Changing the SMTP port in Eudora
It differs depending on whether you are using a Mac or MS-Windows.
- Windows:
- Look in the Eudora directory (probably
c:\program files\qualcomm\eudora).
- In the directory "extrastuff" you will find a file
called "esoteric.epi". Drag it to the main
Eudora folder.
- Start up Eudora. Go to Tools->Options->Ports.
- Type "25000" in the box for SMTP port.
You may also need to:
- See Eudora's explanation for more detail.
- Look for a file in the Windows directory for a file called "services".
- Open it with Notepad.
- Look for a line that says "smtp 25/tcp mail".
- Change the "25" to "25000".
- Save the file and exit Notepad.
- If that line does not already exist, do not add it.
- Macintosh
- Quit Eudora and look in the Eudora Application Folder
for the folder "Extras".
- In this folder is a file "Esoteric Settings". Drag this file into the "Eudora Stuff" folder.
- Launch Eudora and go to
Special->Settings->Ports & Protocols.
- Type "25000" in the box for SMTP port.
This will affect all of your SMTP servers. Not just the
SMTP server.
